As part of my ongoing voyage of discovery in visual art, I stumbled upon photography. I started with camera phone images on my phone, tried to play around with filters, until I realise that the camera captures the same reality that our eyes see, in other words they are duplications, redundant except for the sole purpose of evocation. I got me thinking about expanding my experiences of the world around me. And what better place than the city streets I walk every day? What if I could put a filter on the world, if I could distort the reality photos capture by inducing colour and life and vigour?
This project was the product of those musings. These images capture some of the most iconic views of the city of Birmingham and presents them through lens of intense colour, splendour, vitality and imagination.
